No EIA Required for the Rydon Farm Solar Park

Teignbridge District Council have today decided that no Environmental Impact Assessment will be needed for proposals to build two large scale solar PV arrays either side of Rydon Farm near Ogwell. Their decision letter is addressed to Orta Solar, although the "pre-application enquiry" also mentioned Steadfast Solar Limited. In it Teignbridge's case officer states that:

EIA Required for Ashcombe Estate Solar PV Farm

Teignbridge District Council have now made their decision on Solar Power Generation's request for a screening opinion concerning a proposed 14 MW solar farm on land at the Ashcombe Estate in the Haldon Hills.  Unlike other recent requests for such opinions, in this case Teignbridge have decided that an Environmental Impact Assessment WILL be required.  They state their reasons for that decision as follows:

Since our last report on varying opinions concerning the potential environmental impact of the proposed solar PV park at Cofford Farm near Starcross some additional correspondence about the matter has been received by Teignbridge District Council.

No EIA Required for the Harberton Solar Farm

Whilst there seems to be much less paperwork showing on the South Hams District Council web site than for similar applications in Teignbridge, the ultimate outcome down there appears to be much the same.  In a delegated decision it has been determined that no environmental impact assessment is required for the proposed 30 acre solar PV park at Hazard Farm near Harberton.
