econnexus Open Data Examples

In January 2010 the UK Government made what not very long ago would have been an unthinkable contribution to the Open Data movement. They launched the public beta of  data.gov.uk, a new website devoted to making as much Government information as possible freely available to the general public. This is how they explain their new initiative:

Advised by Sir Tim Berners-Lee and Professor Nigel Shadbolt and others, government is opening up data for reuse. This site seeks to give a way into the wealth of government data and is under constant development. We want to work with you to make it better.

We’re very aware that there are more people like you outside of government who have the skills and abilities to make wonderful things out of public data. These are our first steps in building a collaborative relationship with you.

Here at econnexus.org.uk we will be experimenting with this new mountain of free information and displaying our findings for you to examine.
